The Book Of Ruth

SYNOPSIS

Hot Springs, 1983. Ruth lives a busy life, devoted to her work, her six-year-old daughter Jessica, and her faith. But when a handsome new neighbour turns out to be a gay ex-New-Yorker, she decides to educate herself on the epidemic sweeping the country.

Appalled by the treatment of AIDS sufferers by the state and beyond, Ruth makes it her mission to care for the sick, and carry out the wishes of the dying. Facing social stigma and ostracization from friends, family and the church, and nearly losing everything, Ruth’s world is turned upside down as she battles to defend, care for, and protect the rights of those the country would rather forget.
